First one of the year!
‣ Restaurant Roundtable: Split restaurateurs shared insights into navigating the hospitality industry, discussing challenges, strategies, and lessons learned. The discussion was moderated by Geoff Bratton, our president and Fig Restaurant’s Co-Owner.
‣ Here are a few highlights:
✔️Invest in your ideal client and cater to the diverse tourism market.
✔️Every percentage counts in increasing your margin, potentially making the difference between currency and incurred currency.
✔️Regarding work contracts and visas, the inclusion of housing arrangements is at your discretion. Opt for shorter contracts, renewing them as needed. Remember, termination during sick leave is prohibited, but extended leaves can be covered by government salary payments.
✔️Incorporate waste into your tax calculations to qualify for deductions on associated expenses.
✔️A new tip distribution regulation is on the horizon. Tips, whether in cash or card, must be registered and paid to employees at the end of each month.
✔️Stay updated on news in Croatian by submitting the text to Chat GPT. You can request summaries, simplifications, or ask questions to enhance understanding.
✔️Enhance business oversight remotely by installing cameras. However, ensure they do not record audio, as this is illegal.
✔️Looking ahead to 2024, some experienced members anticipate a decline in tourism due to pricing and regulatory factors.
